Assignment 9- Alex

I don't really have much of an opinion on wars. I do think that yes, there are times for war, but I'm not too sure about when they are. For the defense of your nation and people, go for it. The thing is, I'm not sure when you should go on the offensive. In the past some have gone to war for religion, land, power, rights, and much more. Some of these seem right, others horrendous acts of slaughter. No one today thinks that Hitler went to war for good reasons, but the North's cause in the Civil War was right. I agree with that last one because the South attacked first, and they wanted to free the slaves. I believe heavily in personal freedom so slavery is a no go in my book. War is mainly a threat used to back up diplomatic agreements. If a country breaks all its agreements, and diplomacy fails, war is the absolute last resort. Diplomacy should always come first if possible. But yeah that's my thoughts.
