Have you noticed all the panhandlers in Lexington recently? I know I have. Every other street corner has one, often with signs like, "Anything Helps," and "Tough times, god bless you." Of course I feel sympathetic for these vagrants. Their life is quite tough, and escaping the vicious cycle can be difficult. So i propose a new solution, to help eliminate the panhandlers found in Lexington.
My solution is quite simple, and is designed to minimize costs. It begins by installing sharp 4 feet long spikes on the front of the LexTran buses. The spikes are specifically designed to pierce. This way, as a LexTran driver approaches a panhandler, they don't have to slow down and wait for them to leave the road. By eliminating the panhandler, other citizens don't have to be pestered or guilted in to giving away their hard earned money. Naturally, some might consider this solution to be a bit brazen, and lacking in emotion, but upon further analysis, it becomes apparent that the opposite is true. The homeless people are not contributing to society, and if they aren't making any attempts to, then why should they stay. The homeless also have the option to stay off the streets, they don't have to beg. The only other fees associated with this solution, is a small upkeep and maintenance with the spikes. The remains that are gathered on the spikes will be washed off over time by weather and other factors.
