The summer after Freshman year I went to Duke University for the TiP Program and I wasn't sure what to expect or what I even wanted out of a roommate. But then I got the best roommate I could ever have. As I see it, with roommates there's basically two ways it can go: You either become the closest people possible or you simply coexist. Me and my roommate were the first option and it was amazing. All I can really hope for is that my college roommate be something like she was. So here's some of the things (based off my previous roommate) that I would like in a college roommate:
I'm a really awkward person in general and especially when I'm meeting new people, so I need a roommate that can counteract my awkwardness and can tolerate it.
I also would like someone who's a night owl and who will be stay up with me, but is also good at waking up in the morning so they can help wake me up.
I want someone I can talk to.
I want someone who likes board games, cards, reading and watching TV shows while doing homework and who I can discover more about through doing these things with them.
I don't need someone with the same major or even similar interests, but I want someone who I can have intellectual conversations with.
Most of all I want someone who is unique and isn't afraid to be different and be themselves.
