Assignment 10: Nathan Boshard
What scares me the most is any perilous situation where i have a lack of control. If i were to climb a building, i would be in control. By contrast, if i were on a roller coaster, i have no control. If the roller coaster suddenly goes off the rails, i can do nothing but sit back and accept my fate. If I almost slip during a climb, however, i can regain my grip and continue. Even though the statistics would most likely show that roller coasters are far safer than climbing buildings, if I hurt myself during a climb, it was my fault. It feels better knowing that my condition is my fault and not the result of an extraneous variable over which I had no control. Essentially, I dislike putting my life in the hands of something/someone else.
