Assignment 15: Nathan Boshard
Religion/Politics is what geeks me out. I could talk about religion/politics for days on end with only the knowledge I have in my head. I would like to think that I also tend to know what I'm talking about. The only problem is, I have some - given the current political climate - unpopular opinions. These beliefs often stir up controversy outside of my friend group, who share most of my opinions. The reason that I take such an interest in politics/religion is the importance of it. Sure, there is time in a day for unimportant entertainment, but if I hope to one day cast a vote for who I want in government, I should keep myself informed. Religion is also one of the core beliefs that directs a person's life, so I keep myself aware of what current effects religion is having on the world. Whenever I want someone to learn more from I look to political and religious figures: Ben Shapiro, TYT, Matt Dillahunty, Dinesh D'Souza. Although they have very differing viewpoints, no one made any progress by trapping themselves in a bubble of confirmation bias. I don't actively seek out information to support my position, I just seek out information.
