Assignment 13 - Anna Baskin

Political debate has been a real issue in our world today. Any attempt at rationally discussion quickly dissolves into a sort of defensive aggression. No one speaks civilly, or respects each other’s opinions. So how do we solve this issue? How do we help people speak politely, and refrain from this bitter, juvenile rhetoric that divides our nation? The answer is simple: divide our nation.
It’s what everyone’s wanted to do since the beginning, if we’re honest. Throw all the Republicans in the South, throw the Democrats in the north, and build a wall between them. Poof! Problem’s gone. There’s no argument, because they’re not speaking to each other.
“But Anna,” a cautious reader might ask, “how will Congress work with only two major states?” Never fear, there is a solution. Congressional seats will be decided by population, of course. After all, the two state’s policies will keep their populations on fairly balanced terms. The Republican state may appear to have an advantage at first glance, what with the Democrat’s startling tendency to murder their babies, but the rampant gun violence will kill off at least half of their population, till they stand on an equal playing field with the Democrats. Who knows, perhaps portioning power according to the state’s population will even encourage all Congressmen to care about improving the lives of their constituents. Either way, this seems the only viable solution to the rampant animosity between Republicans and Democrats.
