Assignment 13 - Max Marksbury

Smartphones are a plague on society. Think of the pros versus the cons, and then picture that list in your mind. Yes, indeed, the "cons" side is much, much longer than the "pros" side. Smartphones allow instant access to the internet through your fingertips, and you can call your friend who lives on the other side of the world with ease. But at what cost? Through this information overload, we are poisoning the minds of our children. They are not learning how to socialize like kids did before the Great Smartphone Outbreak of 2007, when the first smartphone was released by Apple. Without proper social skills, the world will fall into total chaos and anarchy within a generation. The only way this can be prevented is if all smartphones are recalled and destroyed. This will prevent further tainting of minds and preserve the good social skills we need.
I know what you are thinking: "Wow, what a terrific idea! I agree 100%. How will we communicate with others?" If you have paid any attention to history, you will know that we solved this problem hundreds of years ago with the invention of the telegram. It's not as fast as a smartphone, yes, and you have to learn morse code, but it is perfectly adequate for long distance connection. Plus, as an additional bonus, it will not tarnish the minds of adolescents.
