Assignment 12 - Anna Baskin

Moving into college is going to be a shock. Not only because it’s a huge life step, but because I’ve never had to share my room with anyone for a long period. Not with friends or cousins or siblings. For as long as I can remember, my room has been my territory – no intruders allowed. Adjusting to a roommate may be difficult for me. But I can offer some facts to help my roommate adjust to me:
My books are going to take up a lot of room. I’m sorry but it’s true. They don’t stay in piles, or on shelves; they migrate around the room to desks and windowsills and beds. It’s a fact you’ll just have to accept. Secondly, my lazy self has a hard time with the concept of a dresser to store clothes. I always drop clean clothes in a pile in front of the dresser, promising myself I’ll put them away later, and later never comes. Apart from these two facts, on the whole I’m a rather clean person. Another fact to help you adjust: I have days I want to go out, and days I need to stay in. When I want to go have fun, I promise I’m up for anything, raring to go. But when I’d rather stay curled up under a comforter, good luck trying to convince me otherwise. You’d have better luck moving the Rocky Mountains. My final word of advice for being my roommate is really, just be a good person. As long as you’re nice and hardworking, I think we can get along pretty well.
