Assignment 19 - Lauren Chatfield

When I was very young, I remember a close family friend of our's graduating high school. Her name was Lucy and she was SO cool to me. She made short films, she always found cool new music, she had a macbook (VERY cool at the time), and was so kind to everyone. I remember when she graduated, everyone asked her "what are you gonna study?" "what are you gonna do for a living?" "Where will you live?" and all sorts of big questions that seemed so scary to me. She would always smile and tell everyone she didn't care as long as she never stopped learning. My mother then added to this and say the same thing of her life: she always wanted to be learning. Hearing this changed everything for me and still makes me reconsider my future. Who I will be and where I will be don't matter so much, I just always want to learn more. I want to do well in school, I want to enjoy my classes, and I want to always learn more. I will never know everything but I want to get the most out of all I do and truly immerse myself and absorb all that is around me. Lucy went on to go to Butler University then leave early (too conservative for her) and finish college in Illinois. Shortly after she moved to D.C. and helped with Hilary Clinton's campaigns and platform.
