I recently found that The Breakfast Club and Lady Bird are deemed similar by many critics, and parts of me would agree that they are indeed similar, but they have many differences.
They are similar in the fact that I believe they are movies that all teens must see. They both tackle coming to terms with who you are and what you personally believe.
But more importantly they are extremely different. They are a showing of how similar themes told to the same audience can vary quite a lot.
The Breakfast Club is more about the relationship between the teens while Lady Bird is about a teen girl and her mother. The characters are never puppets of who they would be in real life. Lady Bird is very much an ode to Sacremento while Breakfast Club is more an ode to high school.
I perfered Lady Bird over Breakfast Club just because Lady Bird spoke to me in ways Breakfast Club just couldn't. Lady Bird has all the struggles of a normal girl in high school and everyone has been an argument with their mother where they refuse to be the one who breaks and apologizes first.
Lady Bird much like life ends abruptly and much like
