Assignment 19 - Delaney

As a small child, in early elementary school, my father always asked me who I played with at school that day. I didn’t understand why until a little bit later when my mom explained that he was just worried about my social life.

Later on, in late elementary school, I didn’t really have any great friendships. But I didn’t know any different. When I switched schools for middle school I was worried about having to find new friends. My mother assured me that I’d be fine. She also told me that a good friend isn’t just someone you talk to often, a good friend is someone who cares about you.

This kind of went to the back burner for a little while. In the meantime, I had started school at Tates Creek Middle and I had decided to become friends with Erica, Erin, Breanna, and Michayla. After the three years of middle school, I realized that they were much better friends than I had ever really had before and I decided to not become (or stay) friends with anyone who was a fake friend like I’d had in elementary school.

To this day, I make sure that I surround myself with true friends and my life is so much better because of it.
