So I tried to make a rotten tomatoes account and did leave a review for The Greatest Showman but now I cannot find it on the website SO I've decided to discuss the works of Kenny Ortega. I always knew his name as the one that showed on the screen of my TV before each of my favorite High School Musical movies. Two of his films that are my favorite are Hocus Pocus and High School Musical 3. While he has choreographed many films (including Dirty Dancing), he directed these two.
Hocus Pocus, made in 1993 is a halloween movie following three witches in Salem and the role they play on a teenage boy, his sister, and his love interest. In this film, there is suspense, mystery, a bit of scariness, and love. This movie has a cult following and annual airings around Halloween.
High School Musical 3 is the last film in its trilogy. It is a musical and follows the same characters from the other 2 films and their senior year of high school. This musical is sentimental, relatable, and shows youth a false example of what high school is like.
Both of these movies do deal with young kids (young meaning teenagers), are catered toward youth, and have a somewhat cult following. As they are very different in the types of movies they are, they both demonstrate Kenny Ortega's work very well.
