Both series begin with a chosen one. Anakin Skywalker, a young boy who is seen to have extreme potential and will restore the balance of the force. Harry Potter a rising wizard who's legend began as an infant when he survived Lord Voldemort's curse. Both go to school for their respective arts (Jedi and wizardry) to master their craft.
Except one falls off the path. Anakin Skywalker has been clouded by Lord Sidious and now sees the Jedi as weak and thinks he must join the sith to find true strength and protect the ones he loves. Eventually he helps Sidious and fails to become the chosen one however his son, Luke Skywalker, would be the true chosen one and kill Lord Sidious bringing balance to the force
Harry Potter, mentored by Albus Dumbledore, follows his path as the chosen one, fighting off death eaters and Voldemort himself as he destroys horcruxes to weaken Voldemort and ultimately kill He Who Must Not Be Named. Harry after a horrific journey through childhood, in which many he loved died, was able to over come it unlike Anakin and defeat the evil and save everyone from Voldemort not joining him.
Both series are amazing and very famous and rightfully so they follow similar plots just with different ideas and destinations.
