Junior year.
The year everyone wishes you luck for. But in all honesty, I have loved this
past year.
I’ve accomplished
many of my goals this past year. In archery I received placement on the First
All-City Team being the first-place girl in the district based on season
averages. I experienced my first year being Drum Major in the marching band and
received that title again for next year. I was just recently named the Dance Committee
Chair for DanceBlue for 2018/2019. I was in the ensemble of the school musical,
Singin in the Rain. I got into the National Honor Society and was elected
Member at Large. I served as an EAP Mentor Leader.
I also have
had some tougher times though. Late nights, sleep deprivation, and falling
asleep in my classes have become “norms”. I tend to procrastinate, but I also am
simply busy. It’s hard to remember the last time I slept in or had a free
night, and even if I was free or had a moment to spare it is instantly consumed
with homework or projects. During marching band as I was serving in my new leadership
positions I had to deal with lots of pressure. There was a lot of pressure that
I put on myself and our directors put on the band. Of course my goal was to be
perfect all the time, which I soon found to be impossible.
This summer
I will be in Morehead for 5 weeks to participate in GSP and then two days after
I come back I will begin our 3-week band camp, which is 8am-9pm the first week
and 8am-6pm the other two weeks.
If you can’t
tell I like to always be moving and staying busy. Overall, junior year has been
an amazing opportunity from becoming closer with Stone and Matthew in English to
attempting to sing in the school musical (I can’t sing). I am terrified of
becoming a senior, but hopefully it will turn out like this year. I’m so
thankful for everyone who made this year so amazing!
