Assignment 14 Neil

Perhaps my favorite Thanksgiving ever was my most desperate. When I was six I moved to New Mexico, my Dad had started dating a girl from there and when she moved back so did we. I loved my time in New Mexico, I mean my nose started bleeding when I got there and didn't stop until I came back to Kentucky but it was enjoyable all around. Towards the end of my stay there my dad broke up with his girlfriend (or vice versa) and he and I were alone and far from home. This also coincided conveniently with the fall of the housing market. Broke and alone. We decided to move back to Lexington because if we didn't move soon we would be stuck in New Mexico unable to keep our head above water indefinitely. We had yet to make our move by the time Thanksgiving hit so we ate Thanksgiving dinner in a little buffet. Believe me when i tell you lonely people are the kindest people on Thanksgiving. There was a mutual understanding among everyone there that we were all a bit sad, and it was clear we were all just looking for some conversation.

(as a side note almost the same thing had happened to my dad years earlier except it was in Florida and instead of an all you can eat buffet he was halfway invited to this weird like potluck at the strip club).
