I'm not a huge music person but I do enjoy some classic throwback songs. I'd agree the best music is from the 70's and 80's and that the stuff coming out now can't match up. Granted I do enjoy listening to modern hip hop and rap just having fun with friends and or maybe driving around town the 5 songs I would pick are:
Africa by Toto, there is no greater song ever created. If you haven't heard the song you need to go right now and listen to it. IT'S WAITING THERE FOR YOU. I heard this song for the first time last year and it hit me instantly and I've loved it since.
Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen. Just a good classic song. IF YOU'RE JUST GETTING TIRED AND BORED OF YOURSELF. This song is THE SPARK you need to start THE FIRE. When I hear this song the volume goes up and I, the usually quiet person when it comes to singing in the car, start to sing but its more of just a yell for me.
Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp. This is the story you hear about staying young as long as you can so I love it. Especially during my high school years because I'm making memories I'll keep for a lifetime so I need to make them now because the THE THRILL will be gone and LIFE GOES ON. I enjoy this song especially at parties or when I'm with a group of friends because that's when a lot of memories are made.
A Land Down Under by Men at Work. There is something different about this song. Its story is unique and they use lines that allude to plenty of different lines and i enjoy the music in this song as well. The flute is great in this song even if they did go to court over its part. Sorry I couldn't come up with a pun with any lyrics.
Man-eater by Hale and Oats. This song stereotypes certain women who use their looks to take advantage of men. whether she uses his money or abuses his love. Its a classic story with a great metaphor or a jaguar and great music including great saxophone play and a saxophone solo. If you come across a women similar to the one described in this song be careful. WATCH OUT BOY SHE'LL CHEW YOU UP and IF YOU'RE IN IT FOR LOVE I hate to break it to you but YOU AIN'T GONNA GET TOO FAR.
These are some of my favorite songs for any situation but especially, I love to sing along and play these in the car or whenever I'm with friends.
