Assignment 3: Lauren Chatfield

When I was in Kindergarten and 1st grade, my family and I lived in Belgium. Although my siblings and I were very young, we learned lessons that stuck with us to this day. Having lived abroad and still having some of our closest friends there, we learned a lot about what diversity means and does not mean. Diversity means that we are different and come from different backgrounds but does not at all mean that someone is superior. We also spent a lot of time studying different languages. We learned french while developing our English skills and we were also around Spanish, as that is what our cousins spoke. While living overseas, we travelled a lot. My parents wanted us to soak up all of Europe that we could in case we were never fortunate enough to come back. From this, I learned and experienced so many things that I will forever be thankful for, and I have bragging rights over how many countries my teddy bear has visited.
