-The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger (Read during winter finals last year and fell in love with every page of it. I immediately connected with the narrator's unique voice and reading it felt like talking to an old friend.)
-The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Read on my own terms before we did it in seminar. From the symbolism to the characters to the beautiful language throughout, I fell in love again.)
-Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur (That one collection of poetry that everyone and their mother read last year. I really enjoyed the raw emotion found in all the poems, it felt very much written from experience.)
-American Gods by Neil Gaiman (I must confess that I couldn't finish this one. I just could not empathize with the characters and that made it not enjoyable. Life's too short to read books you don't like.)
-Whiskey Words and a Shovel I by r.h. Sin (Another collection of poetry, similar to Milk and Honey. Enjoyed it, but it was written from a much darker place than I've ever been, so I couldn't relate to it as much.)
-Farewell to Manzanar by James D. Houston and Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston (My current read. A sort of memoir about Japanese Internment during WWII, a subject very near to my heart. I highly recommend it if you'd like to learn more about this commonly "forgotten" part of history.)
