Assignment 5: Anne Douglas

Television is without-a-doubt one of the most important aspects of our culture. It is enjoyed by almost everyone in our society and offers something different to everyone. Two people could watch the same show and equally enjoy it, but laugh at different parts and understand different references. Television brings people together. Strangers, who seemingly have nothing in common, bond through discussion of last nights episode.
I love television. I love everything about it. The production, the creativity, the different worlds. I love it all. My all time favorite shows are all sitcoms: Parks and Recreation, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, and New Girl. These four shows have all made me laugh out loud and cry tears of joy, as well as tears of sadness. I have dedicated hundreds of hours of my life to these shows. Ron Swanson taught me how to stand fervently behind the things I believe in, and the value of simple living. Jessica Day taught me to never be anything but who you truly are. Leslie knope taught me that anything is possible, as long as you have good friends, a job your passionate about, and breakfast foods. All of these lessons and characters have helped shape who I am.
