College obviously becomes a huge theme throughout the later years of high school. Finding the right one, choosing a path to major in, and impressing colleges are all difficult tasks for most students. However, all of the hard work allegedly pays off when said student is allowed into their ideal college to pursue their passion. Hopefully, said student will be me in the coming years.
For me, a great college needs to consist of two essential concepts: a strong sense of community and a solid emphasis on maintaining a good education.
First, there's the educational aspect. This is obviously a huge factor in deciding colleges, as the primary purpose of college is to provide an above-average, focused education after high school. However, that doesn't mean that everyone should just assume that every college can provide a good education for every field. Some colleges put a much more prominent focus on certain majors than others. For example, while one college may be centered around engineering, another college could have a lacking engineering major that offers little.
The community aspect of colleges is also a big deal to me. On the student level, I want to be able to connect with other students and meet a lot of great, new people. I also want a community on a much larger, school-wide level. I want to be able to proudly identify with my college and I want to be around people who feel the same way.
