Assignment 8- Caili Harris

Fears: heights, failure, death, amounting to nothing in the future, displeasing people, Pennywise (IT)
Annoyances: society’s perception of how a woman should look, debaters, teachers who teach for their own personal benefit, people who hate, adobe reader/ Microsoft updates
Accomplishments: on varsity soccer team, MIP for soccer, MIP for bowling, getting into the academy
Confusions: science
Sorrows: the mistreatment of kids with disabilities, the holocaust, Trump, the death of my horse, the death of good music
Dreams: speaking a few different languages
Idiosyncrasies: theatre nerd
Risks: trying new hairstyles and clothing styles
Beloved Possessions: book collection, nutcracker music box from grandfather, journals

Problems: procrastination, letting my fear get the best of me

Something that infuriates me is society’s perception of how a woman should look. First of all, body hair. A man out in public with unshaved legs is normal, and yet a girl out in public with unshaved legs is silently judged. I understand some may argue that this is on account of the female majority’s personal preference. However, if that wasn’t the trend, if every woman didn’t shave their legs, and if women with unshaved legs appeared on TV (not for comedic purposes) would it be considered so out of the ordinary? No. Secondly, although TV shows and magazines have become better about this, the common perception of skinny is overrated. A woman should not be judged on the size of jeans she fits into. Lastly, why are we judged on hair-color. A blonde’s made out to be dumb, brunettes are supposed to be more serious, and red heads have stereotypically hot-headed personalities. Personally, I am sick of society’s overall stereotyping of how a woman should look.
