Assignment 5- Matthew Street
I watch TV fairly often. There isn’t really a large motive behind my watching of the TV. It mostly consists of me watching 90s sitcoms with mostly dry jokes (for the exception of Sienfeld, which is just utterly amazing). I would say the biggest reason for me watching TV is sports. I am an avid football baseball basketball and hockey fan. I mostly cheer for the teams based out of Pittsburgh for professional (my dad grew up there) and for UK on the college level. It usually keeps me entertained and provides a good background for me while I attempt to do homework. I read a blog post by another student: Richie Lane, about the Oscars and emmys and why they are praising people who have done little to contribute to cutlure as compared to someone who could win a Nobel prize for quantum mechanics, which kind of makes you question why are we praising people like Steve Carrell instead of people who legitimately contribute to the value of life for all humans and it’s really just mind boggling how Hollywood centered the United States are.
