Blog Two- Erica Currier

I am an avid reader. Reading gives me the most pleasure currently in my life (I know it sounds cheesy) but I think of my personal library as a collection of special keepsakes. I am currently reading "It" by Stephen King which I think is an in-depth character study with just a touch of horror. This book has just the right amount of humor to off-set the horror, but most importantly it is King's way of describing a feeling or a single moment in time that I wish to one day replicate in any writing I do.  "The Underground Railroad" by Colton Whitehead is a horrifying novel, but in a completely other way to King's masterpiece. Whitehead uses already known scenarios to rose feelings in the audience as well as a commentary on the human condition and how it hasn't quite changed.  Both of these books are a beautiful way of presenting a story: a situation happens- how do the characters react? This is something I love and respect in books.
