I have not had the opportunity to travel outside of the country. I haven't even lived outside of Lexington. This unfortunately has partially limited my perspective of the world. However, I have found that I love big cities because of the amount of cultural and social encounters that can occur. The largest city I have been to is Chicago, and I absolutely loved it because there were so many people there. So many lives and collections of experiences converge in one place, and it made me realize how big the world is and how small I am.
I love learning about other cultures. I get super interested and excited when people tell me about traditions, values, or other cultural elements that were big parts of their lives. It shows me something new about them, and it expands my knowledge of the world and of people.
I believe that learning about the world and about people and cultures other than your own is very important. Blocking yourself off limits your worldliness and could even create a more insensitive person, which is dangerous to social interactions.
Learning about the world is something I'm passionate about, and I'm hoping that I can do more learning in the future.
