Assignment 20- Caili Harris (Fortune Teller)

How to Create a Fortune-Teller
Materials:
·       8x11 piece of paper
·       Scissors
·       Markers

1.     Take the top right corner of an 8x11 piece of paper and fold it down to the opposite side to create a right triangle. (There should be a small rectangular portion of the paper not folded)
2.     Cut the rectangular portion left over and cut it off so that you only have the folded triangle.
3.     Open the triangle. You should now have a perfect square.
4.     You will now make creases to make the next steps easier.
a.     Fold the top left corner down to the bottom right corner to make a right triangle and then open it back up.
b.     Fold the top right corner down to the bottom left corner to make a right triangle and then open it back up.
c.     Take the top of the paper and fold it down to the bottom and then open it back up.
d.     Take the right side of the paper and fold it down to the left side and then open it back up.
e.     Note: When folding, always make sure to flatten the paper before opening it back up so you have creases.
5.     There should now be a crisscrossed crease-pattern on the front of your paper. Where the lines meet in the middle, fold each corner of the square so that each corner touched the middle. (Hint: Flaps should not over lap)You should now have a square shape in front of you.
6.     Flip over the paper and repeat the last step. You should then have an even smaller square.
7.     Fold the folded-paper in half to make a rectangle. (Hint: There should now be two square flaps on each side of the rectangle)
8.     Now hold up your first three fingers (including your thumb- or digits if you are still troubled by me calling the thumb a finger)
9.     Touch your index and middle finger to your thumb (on both the left and right side).
10.  Crack open the folded rectangular paper so it is only partially open.
11.  Slide your two index finders into the crack to touch in the middle.
12.  Allow your middle fingers to support the far side of the folded paper and your thumbs to support the side closest to you.
13.  Still holding the paper, bring your middle and index fingers from a horizontal to a vertical position.
14.  Take away your fingers, but keep the paper in the same position you molded in the last step.
15.  Now take the square flaps and put a finger in each opening. Now you have created the fortune-teller.
16.  To finish, on each outer diamond (there are four), write a color.
17.  On each interior triangle flap (there are 4 but write on the each triangular side that create each flap), write a number.
18.  Lift up the flaps, and on the corresponding number’s side write whatever fortune you desire- whether good or bad.
19.  If you don’t know how to tell fortunes with it, phone a friend or look online.
20.  Have Fun!
