I am in kind of a tough spot college-wise. I have not decided what I want to do after graduation, so I haven't yet picked a college to suit that career choice. However, I have a some general ideas of what my ideal college experience would be.
I want an education that will challenge me (although not too much) while still interesting me. I don't want to "go through the motions," I want to wake up every morning excited (or at least mentally prepared) to be engaged in my classes.
I want to learn. Not just the same subjects I've been learning for years (math, science, social studies, and English over and over again), but new things that I haven't had the opportunity to learn. I want to expand more on subjects that might be considered "elective subjects." I want to learn about how to be a functioning adult, and about how to handle all the responsibilities that come with that. I want to learn more about the world and about the people in it.
I want to meet new people. Having lived in Lexington all my life, I only get to really meet people when they move in. And while I obviously haven't met everyone in Lexington or even just in my school, I want to be in an environment formed of people from everywhere.
I think college is very important for high schools to expand their views and their worldliness, and while half is me is reluctant to leave the familiarity of high school, the other half is itching to enter my future.
