At first, I was having trouble thinking of a memorable assignment within the current school year. Then, I decided to broaden the scope of assignments I was willing to write about and remembered one in particular: a film project for sophomore year Arts and Humanities. For this project, a group had to make a 5-minute film about anything, provided it was school appropriate. It took a while to agree upon a topic: a man loses his lucky penny and goes back to reclaim it. Yeah, I know, thrilling.
Looking back on it, it was a very low-quality project. However, more importantly than the film itself was the process itself. A myriad of problems existed during the filming process: some of the "actors" couldn't show up most days, editing was complicated, some scenes were difficult to film, etc. Despite all of this, creating the film was a fun project. I had a genuinely good time filming and acting alike. As a result, I learned that I enjoyed creating films, and while I won't be directing the next big Hollywood movie, I hope that I get another chance to create another film in the future.
