Assignment 8: Luke Webster

Fears: Being left out
Annoyances: being left out, interruption, unnecessary outrage
Accomplishments: Being awesome (duh)
Confusions: Polarization
Sorrows: Inequity
Dreams: Rockstardom, happy life
Idiosyncrasies: Nerd, socially awkward at times
Risks: I'm a very safe person most of the time, I don't know about this
Beloved Possessions: My stuffed dog (Then), Stitches, Pearl, and (Insert) (Guitars, Now)
Problems: Organization and temperament

It really befuddles me how everyone could be so polarized in today's political landscape. We are all Americans right? Like whatever happened to public discourse. I digress, I suspect the main culprit of this to be the near constant ramping up of the political rhetoric. When everyone becomes a Nazi or a bigot if they disagree with you, the conversation stops. I mean after all, how could you cooperate and debate with something so vile, it removes the will to argue. I guess that's what really annoys me about politics today. Because it's less of a argument and more a shutdown, which slows the debate and makes policy so much harder to enact. I don't know about everyone else, but I'd rather pass good bipartisan legislation to advance the country instead of fighting random battles over whatever someone tweeted last night about someone else. I just think that its pointless and I would like to see a return to form when it comes to bipartisan agreement.
